Trek Description

Ideal for those who cannot endure high altitude climbing, this six-day trek connects Paro and Thimphu, the airport district and Bhutan’s capital city. The journey passes through mountains, rides, lakes, meadows, and alpine landscape dotted with alpine and dwarf rhododendron forests. The distance between camps is relatively short, and the overall trek leisurely at altitudes ranging between 2400-4200 m.  One also gets to see Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the highest unscaled peak in the world.

Attractions

Jili Dzong (ruined fortress), forests of fir, blue pine and dwarf rhododendrons, yak herders, glacial lakes like Jigmelang, Simkotra and Janetso teeming with trouts, views of Mount Gangkar Puensum, world’s highest unclimbed mountain and several other Himalayan peaks, ancient monastery at Phajoding.
